We want to be a catalyst for positive change, we’ve been driven by the same ideas when Alexis  initially founded our Non-Profit Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress. Questbridge College Prep Scholars Program

 

 

Being a College Prep Scholar is a notable distinction that shows our 42 college partners that you are a competitive candidate for admission. In addition, your application will automatically carry over for the National College Match when you’re a senior, giving you a head start on applying for a full four-year scholarship to our college partners. College Prep Scholars are historically five times more likely than other applicants to receive full four-year scholarships through the National College Match.

Genovesi Environmental Study Center

 

The Genovesi Environmental Study Center offers rich and engaging environmental science programs for students at all grade levels. This 7,000 square foot learning center, sitting on over an acre of beautiful grounds At the Center, students get hands-on environmental science and STEM instruction. The highly trained staff help students explore the urban habitats around them and become stewards for the environment. Our programs are age- and grade-appropriate and aligned to the NYC Science Scope and Sequence and the Common Core Learning Standards.

Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES)

 

 

Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES) is a rigorous six-week residential academic enrichment program for rising high school seniors – many of whom come from underrepresented or underserved communities – who have a strong academic record and are interested in studying and exploring careers in science and engineering.  This national program stresses the value and reward of pursuing advanced technical degrees and careers while developing the skills necessary to achieve success in science and engineering.

YCTeen Magazine Writer

YCteen writers are mentored by full-time professional editors, learning memoir writing and journalism skills. Our writers get to be a voice for other teens; their work is published for thousands of readers on YCteen.org and is often reprinted by sites like Chalkbeat, or in Youth Communication curricula. The writing process is rigorous, involving many drafts, but with lots of support and guidance from an editor. Writers will be paid $100 per published article.

Kara Tutoring

 

 

Being a volunteer tutor at Kara Tutoring is a rewarding experience. We say that because you’ll be helping financially disadvantaged students achieve their full potential by being able to attend college. Many of our students wouldn’t be able to attend college unless they receive a scholarship, which is usually attained by a high exam scores. However, we aren’t all about the score improvement. We aim to cultivate positive relationships with our students to encourage them for future success.

SportsHi Ambassador Program

The 12 week ambassador program at SportsHi is an opportunity to learn marketing skills and meet professionals such as coaches, players, and even businessmen as we have had guest appearances from Rugby coaches of Brown University, a WNBA player, an NBA coach and more. This is a recurring internship so you can really start at any time during the year. You just have to be interested in sports, business or tech and be in grades 9-12.

Our vision is to inspire groups of volunteers around the country to crochet/knit, collect and donate bar soap to their local food pantries, homeless shelters, relief efforts, mission trips, social service agencies and veterans clinics.

We train talented college students at top institutions to connect remotely with high-achieving, low-income high school students, providing the information, guidance, and support that these high school students need to navigate the college process.

NYC Ladders For Leaders

Ladders for Leaders is a nationally recognized program that offers high school and college students the opportunity to participate in paid professional summer internships with leading corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies in New York City. The program is an initiative of the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and supported by the NYC Center for Youth Employment and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.

Girls Who Code

 

This 2-week virtual program teaches girls—trans and cis—and non-binary students the computer science skills they need to make an impact in their community while preparing for a career in tech. Participants will get exposure to tech jobs, meet women in tech careers, and join a supportive sisterhood of girls in tech.

Alley Pond Field Biology

The Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC), a nonprofit environmental education organization, is dedicated to educating children and adults in the New York metropolitan area, protecting and preserving Alley Pond Park, open spaces and waterbodies, and advocating for sustainable environmental policies and practices.

Known as Explainers, Science Career Ladder participants engage the museum’s half-million annual visitors in creative STEM learning and serve as positive role models for our preK – 8th-grade student audience.
