Sr. Arsheen Sayeed
Principal
Arsheen Sayeed is the Principal of Al-Mamoor School. As an educator for the past 15 years under the Department of education she had the opportunity to take upon various roles and played a crucial role in the lives of many students, teachers and parents. As a High School History Teacher, New Teacher Coordinator, and Testing Coordinator she had the opportunity of advancing in the educational field and worked extensively on curriculum development. Under her role as a new teacher coordinator she had the opportunity of providing professional development to teachers citywide and initiated a mentorship program for new teachers to ease their transition into the teaching field. Her philosophy of education is strongly embedded in the idea that educational empowerment is the ultimate way of freeing society from all signs of dependency. Br. Luai Abdelqader
Assistant Principal
Br. Luai graduated from Brooklyn College with Bachelors in English and Management, and also earned certification from Cambridge University. This is his fourth year at Al-Mamoor School. He has taught 9-12 ELA, AP English, SAT English, and College Prep. He has been serving as Assistant Principal since late 2018.

Sr. Nusrat Jahan
Administration
Sr. Nusrat is a graduate of NYCCT with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. She joined Al-Mamoor School as a technology teacher and office admin assistant.
“Working in an Islamic environment has always been a long time desire of mine. As I was studying computer system technology in NYCCT for four years I was wondering how I will be able to achieve that.Being able to be a part of the learning process of these young Muslims brings me joy and motivates me to continue to work hard. These kids are the future of our community; they are the future of the next generation of Muslims.”

Sr. Rafeza Najneen
UPK Lead Teacher
Sr. Rafeza has been working as a teacher for 15 years. She has worked as a teacher at three different international schools in Bangladesh for 12 years total, and this is her third year as teacher in the USA
Sr. Rafeza has earned a Master’s degree in English Literature from Dhaka University.
This is her second year teaching in Al-Mamoor School’s Pre-K program.

Sr. Denas
Pre K Teacher Assistant
Sr. Denas has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is currently pursuing her Bachelors in Early Elementary Childhood Education and a minor in English. Her goal is to obtain a master degree in Education and she is very passionate about her work. She has been working as a prek teacher in Al-Mamoor for four years.

Sr. Fatema Mannaf
Pre-K Assistant teacher
Sr. Fatema Mannaf – Mrs. Fatema is a passionate individual who has a few years working in an early childhood setting. She has a bachelors in business management and is planning to pursue her masters in Education. Mrs. Fatema has previously worked in Al-Mamoor as a substitute and is now the Teachers Assistant in the PreK2 classroom. She loves young children and believes it’s important for children to get a strong foundation in order to be successful later in life.

Sr. Munjina Hoq
1st Grade Assistant Teacher
Sr. Munjina completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from CUNY York College. She has been working in Al-Mamoor School for the past seven years. She is currently the teacher’s assistant for first grade and is a very dedicated teacher.
“Alhumdulillah I’ve learned so much working in an Islamic School. My job is my passion because I love working with students. My philosophy is try your best and never give up. Learning should be enjoyable, interesting and helpful. I believe students should think about what they have learned and my job is to enable that.”

Sr. Arfin
Kindergarten Classroom Teacher
Sr. Arfin graduated from St. John’s University with Bachelors in Childhood Education. She has been the Kindergarten teacher at Al-Mamoor School for the past eleven years. Sr. Arfin enjoys teaching Kindergarten the most because she loves watching students’ progress through their early development years. Experiencing the growth of knowledge within them throughout the year and satisfactory completion of the requirements of this grade is one of her most important goals that give her immense joy as a teacher.

Sr. Momtaz Yeasmin
Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
Sr. Momtaz joined Al-Mamoor School in 2018 and is an assistant teacher in Kindergarten. She has an MA in English and has taught in a number of schools for more than two decades. Momtaz believes in hard work and honesty. She is married and lives with her family in Queens. She enjoys visiting places.

Sr. Layla Nahshel
2nd Grade Classroom Teacher
Sr. Layla has been teaching at Al-Mamoor School for four years. She graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology. She then pursued her Master’s Degree in Psychology and Applied Behavioral Analysis, and is working on her licence in this field. She is very hardworking and always willing to go above and beyond for all her students.

Sr. Khalida Jalili
3rd Grade Classroom Teacher
Sr. Khalida Jalili – This is Sr. Khalida’s fourth year as a teacher in Islamic school. Sr. Khalida graduated from Queens College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with minors in Arabic, biology, and business and liberal arts. She is passionate about training students to develop into future leaders who create a positive impact in the world. Sr. Khalida is currently pursuing a master’s degree in mental health counseling.

4th Grade Classroom Teacher
Sr. Aram is currently the 4th grade teacher Al-Mamoor School. This is her 3rd year teaching with us. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Queens College. She continued her higher education at Adelphi University and has earned a Dual Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Sr. Aram has eight years of teaching experience. She feels passionately about teaching students to become critical thinkers by promoting student interaction and hands-on activities.

Sr. Ismath has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and is currently working on pursuing her Master’s Degree. She has been teaching for the past six years and currently is the Middle school Math and ELA teacher at Al-Mamoor.

Sr. Fahmida Salam
8th Grade Homeroom Teacher – Middle School Math & ELA
This is Sr. Fahmida’s first year at Al-Mamoor. Sr. Fahmida has been teaching for the past twenty four years in New York. Presently, she teaches Math to grade 7, science to grade 6 and 8, and ELA to grade 5. Sr. Fahmida completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Science and her Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Tax Analyst. She is presently studying for the EA exam.
Outside of school, Sr. Fahmida is a Senior Tax Analyst and has been doing taxes for the past 11 years.

Sr. Fatma Ayoub
9th Grade Homeroom Teacher – Middle & High School Science
Sr. Fatma graduated from Queens College with a master’s degree in Education and Biochemistry. She is a New York State certified Teacher, and she has six years of experience teaching in public and Islamic schools across New York State. During her journey as an educator, Sr. Fatma has participated in teaching at Barnard College, and has collaborated on a science project with the United Nations. She is very dedicated to teaching as well as very passionate about science, and works very hard to ensure she has created a comfortable and productive learning environment for her students. This is her first year at Al-Mamoor school and she enjoys being a part of Al-Mamoor family.

Sr. Nazia Niher-Shahzad
12th Grade Homeroom Teacher – High School ELA Teacher
Sr. Nazia Niher-Shahzad – Sr. Nazia graduated from St. John’s University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Adolescent Education. She also has an advanced certification in middle school extension grades 5-6. She is a proud and professional member of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education since 2018. She is also pursuing a doctorate in Educational Technology. Sr. Nazia has worked as a college access facilitator in the NYC College Access for All program. And has done extensive research with the Special Education department at St. John’s University. Currently she is teaching high school English Language Arts and is a college counselor at Al-Mamoor. She is dedicated to teaching and guiding students to gain confidence, be successful, and have the ability to self-motivate to become independent learners. She is also an avid traveler, having visited 20 countries and counting.

Br. Hassan Ouanir
11th Grade Homeroom Teacher – High School Math
Br. Hassan is a high school math teacher. He has been teaching at Al-mamoor School since December 2018. Graduated in 2018 with a bachelor’s in mathematics from Rutgers University of Newark. He taught enrichment programs since 2015 at Hudson County Community College for high school students. Br. Hassan has expertise in computer science, He is currently pursuing master’s degree in Data Science. He is involved in creating STEM activities at Al-Mamoor.

Sr. Elham Mohamed
Quran
Sr. Elham started her journey at Al-Mamoor School in 2018 as a substitute teacher. She now teaches Islamic Studies to Kindergarten students and Quran to students from 7th-12th grade. Sr. Elham has an ijazah in Quran, Nurania, and is currently studying to earn an ijazah in tajweed rules (al jazarya). She is also a student at the Islamic University in Astoria, Queens. Sr. Elham graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Cairo University.
“I am very satisfied with my role alhamdulillah, because I get to do something I love which is to teach Quran to young children and it makes me feel closer to Allah and my religion. I see bright things in the students because they are the same age as my sons. I value Allah and etiquettes first, and I teach kids to follow Allah’s words from His Holy Book. Outside of my work, I am a wife and a mother of two sons: one is currently living in Denver, Colorado (work place) and the other is a senior in High School. “

Sr. Houria Abdelrehem
Islamic Studies, Arabic, & PTA President
Sr. Houria is an Al-Azhar University alumni and has completed her Hifz upon her graduation in 1995. With a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, she has been working with students between ages five to twenty-five, giving halaqat to women, teaching them Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies. She has lead many workshops for teachers, worked on curriculum development and planned many activities for Islamic Schools. She completed her NYS chaplaincy, a one year specialization course in Islamic Pedagogy from Canada, and a course for teaching in an Islamic environment. She also has Ijazahs in Quran, Islamic studies, Fiqh, Aqeedah, etc. She also does social work and does counseling in her community.

Sr. Falastine
Quran & Arabic
Sr. Falastine is a graduate of the Islamic University in Jordan. She is the Arabic and Quran teacher here at Al-Mamoor School. Though she has over twenty-four years of experience in teaching, Sr. Falastine has been with Al-Mamoor School for three and half years now. Teaching the Arabic language to the non-Arabic speaker is such a joy for Sr. Falastine and she enjoys every moment of it!

Br. Zafeer Ali Hafiz
Head of Islamic Studies Department/Quran/Arabic
Br. Zafeer has earned his B.A. in Quran and Islamic Studies from Medina University. He also completed his Aalim course in Islamic theology and is recognized as a New York State Chaplain. He has been an Imaam, Scholar, Speaker, Director of Islamic Center, and Community Leader for eighteen years. He played a key role in establishing a masjid into a fully active Islamic and community center, and a leading role in establishing a full-time Elementary Islamic School and Hifz School. He has recently joined Al-Mamoor and is the head of our Arabic, Quran & Islamic Studies Department.
