Our Board Members

Professor Mohsin Patwary, Ph.D.

Chairman

Dr. Patwary is a Professor of Biology and the Director of four Student Research Support programs.  He is a past Dean of Science for 15 years at the Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York. He received numerous awards of excellence and acclamation for his teaching, research, educational administration, and professional and community leadership that span over 48 years. Dr. Patwary was a Director of the Al-Mamoor School for several years and was the chairman of the Jamaica Muslim Center Board of Trustees. Professor Patwary served multiple times as the Chairman of the JMC Election Commission, the JMC BOT-EC Selection Committees, and the JMC Constitution Committees. Currently, he is the President of the International Society of Bangladesh Affiliated Microbiologists and a Director of the Jamaica Estates Association.  More about Professor Patwary.

Nazmul H. Khan, MD

Chairman of JMC, Director

Dr. Khan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including NYC Health and Hospitals-South Brooklyn Health and Flushing Hospital Medical Center. He has a medical office in Jamaica, NY where he has been seeing his patients for over 20 years.  His practice includes treating chronic diabetes, coronary artery disease, and chronic high blood pressure, among other conditions.   He has been serving the Jamaica community for many years including as the President of BMNA (Bangladeshi Medical Society of North America).  Dr. Khan is currently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jamaica Muslim Center.

Mohammad M. RahmanTuhin, MD

President of JMC, Director

Dr. Rahman is the President of the Jamaica Muslim Center who previously had also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the same organization. Dr. Rahman is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice, and Palliative Care Medicine. He is also serving as an attending physician, at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Rahman has been a practicing physician in the USA for 23 years. He has a medical office in Jamaica and Astoria where he practices medicine. His clinics also provide laboratory, sonogram, EKG, Flu shots, and Haj vaccine.

Enam Mohammed Haque, PE

Director

Mr. Haque is a retired professional Engineer. He received his B. Sc in Civil Engineering degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Before retiring in 2023, he was an Administrative Engineer at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, he worked there over27 years, and worked as Chief of the Structural Engineering Section, Chief of the Division of Planning and Infrastructure Sustainability, and the Division of Collection Facilities. Before that he worked at the Bechtel Engineering Corp over 15 years at different leading positions. He also served as the President of the American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers and Architects. Currently, he is the Vice President of the Jamaica Muslim Center.

Mohibul Islam, PE

Director (Ex-Officio)

Mr. Islam is a professional engineer now working at the NYCSCA. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan University. He served as a Director and the Chairman of Al-Mamoor School. He is currently serving on the Executive Board of Shelter Rock Islamic Center and a member of the Board of Trustees of Long Island Muslim Society. Mr. Islam is a professional engineer now working at the NYCED. He served as a Director and the Chairman of A l-Mamoor School.

Shamiur Rahman

Director

Mr. Rahman is an entrepreneur and a philanthropist. He owns the Sagar Chinese restaurant chain in New York City. He has served as a member of the JMC BOT and EC Selection Committee last year.

Mohammad Siddiquie, CPA

Finance Director

Mr. Siddiquie is a graduate of Baruch College of the City University of New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant with over nineteen years of experience serving not-for-profit organizations by providing financial statement audit and consulting services. He is married with three wonderful children all of whom attend Al-Mamoor School. In addition to being part of Al-Mamoor School Board, he is also serving as the Assistant Treasurer of Jamaica Muslim Center.

Mohammed S. Taher, Pharm.D.

Executive Director

Mr. Taher received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Long Island University. He is a registered pharmacist and owns his own pharmacy business. He has served Al-Mamoor School as the Executive Director previously. His child attends Al-Mamoor School.

Engineer Mohammad Nashir Uddin

Executive Director

Mr. Nashir Uddin is an engineer by profession. He is an entrepreneur and a philanthropist. He owns and operates his real estate development business. He is the secretary of the United Homeowners Association, NY, a member of the Jamaica Muslim Center Executive Committee, and the Chairman of the Al-Mamoor Board Committee on Facilities Management. Two of his children are attending Al-Mamoor School.

Mohammad I. Rashed Rana, Pharm. D.

Vice Chairman

Mr. Rashed is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Long Island University.  He is a registered pharmacist and owns his own pharmacy business. He was president of the Bangladeshi-American Pharmacists’ Association. He has served previously as a Director of Al-Mamoor School.

Mohammed S. Yar, MBA

Director

Mr. Yar, a member of the JMC community for over 32 years. He was retired from the UN system after 27 years of service in various Financial and Project Management positions including that of Assistant Controller, now a Senior International Financial Consultant with UNDP. His Education includes an MBA (Accounting Policies and Financial Management), and a BSc (Economic & Business Administration).

Once the PTA President, he has been a Director on the Al-Mamoor School Board for several years and a JMC BOT-EC Selection Committee member. He was the immediate past Finance Director of the Al-Mamoor School Board and is now the current Chairman of the AMS Board Finance Committee.
